Examination Preparation Camp for 10th Class Students At Torur, Warangal


Overwhelming responses from the students, parents and from the government schools enabled Vandemataram Foundation to go ahead with the residential camp towards examination preparation. At Torur covering 130 villages coming under twenty-two mandals. Students from 112 schools participated. The camp received registration from more than 300 students. Again, due to Telegana agitation others could not make it. Finally, 195 students enrolled for the camp. Out of them 90 were girl students and remaining 105 were boy students.

About the Place

Torrur Mandal is 50 KMs from Warangal. This is the second successive year that the Foundation is conducting camp at ‘Nitin Bhavan’.

Torrur town is centrally located and easily approachable from other mandals. Torur is also known as educational The other mandals are Wardhannapet, Nellikuduru, Dornakal, Palakurti, Kodakandla, Ganapur Station, Zafargadda, Raghunathpalli, Parvathagiri, Sangem, Rayaparti, Narasampeta, Channaraopeta, Gesukonda, Nekkonda, Durgondi, Kanapur, Kuravi, Bowenagiri, and K.Samudram.

Nitin Bhavan has been constructed by Dr. Ashok Reddy in loving memory of his son. This Bhavan is used for charitable activity.
The Foundation is indeed indebted to Dr. Ashok Reddy for providing place to undertake camp activity. This year Dr. Ashok Reddy has special efforts and built additional dormitories for both boys and girls and dinning hall. The bhavan has the capacity to accommodate 400 plus occupants.

Daily Schedule

This being an examination preparation camp, ample scope and space for studying and revision activity was given.

Every day two subject’s revision work was undertaken. Camp commenced on February 14, 2010.

Day started at 4:30 am.
4:30 to 8:00 am Morning Reading Hour
8:00 to 9:00 am Break for personnel care and Breakfast
9:00 to 9:30 Prayer followed by meditation
9:30 to 12:30 noon study hour
12:30 to 1:00 pm Guest Lecture
1:00 to 2:00 pm Lunch Break
2:00 to 3:00 pm Relaxation
3:00 to 5:30 pm Revision hour
5:30 to 6:00 pm Tea Break
6:00 to 8:00 pm Evening Reading Hour
8:00 to 9:00 pm Dinner
9:00 to 9: 30 pm Break for personnel care
9:30 to 11:00 pm Discussions/ Debate/ Sharing
11:00 pm lights off, time to bed.

Students were divided into eight groups of 20-25 students in each. Each group is assigned to a volunteer who in turn caretaker of the group.
Everyday slip test and exams were conducted. Total 72 tests were conducted. 58 teaching faculty assisted in paper valuation. 96 teachers helped in preparation of special study materials with tips. Two sets of model test, annual and Pre-final test were also conducted in addition to the 72 tests. Model question paper sets were prepared based on 10years study materials and question paper banks.
In the evening during revision hour open discussion, quiz competitions on various subjects were conducted.
Teachers’ Orientation Workshop

Before commencement of this camp a one day workshop was held for School Teachers on ‘Subject and Chapter Analysis’ by Dy. DEO Sri Esaiya.

Guest Lectures

In order to motivate the students special lectures were organized.
Camp Inaugural ceremony was organized on February 16,2010. Regional Joint Director for School Education Sri. P. Lakshma Reddy and Tulasi Group Chairman Si. Tulasi Ramachandra Prabhu awardee of National Best Industrialist was Guest of Honour. In the inaugural speech they highlighted about the importance of good education as foundation to build ones career.
Camp Valedictory Function was on February 18, 2010. Regional Joint Director for School Education Sri. P. Lakshma Reddy, Dy. DEO Sri Esaiya, Bhagat Singh Seva Samithi President Sr. Manoj Kumar, six Mandal Educational Officers, school Headmasters from sixty schools, Teachers and Parents were the invitees. Dy. DEO Sri Esaiya, congratulated the Foundation for the efforts and strengthening the students mentally towards the examination. Regular counseling session helped the students with positive energy and molded them with good spirit.

Thanking note
The Foundation is indebted to all the supporters and well-wishers for joining hands and making the camp success. All this was possible with the kind support extended by Dy. DEO Sri Esaiya. It was under the coordination Dy. DEO Sri Esaiya the camp would function with coordination. Apart from taking active participation and he also deputed a teacher Sri B. Srinivasa especially for this camp.

Padha Pooja Ceremony
Before closing the camp, students performed ‘Padha Pooja’ of their respectivive parents and Teachers by washing their feet, offering flowers and sashtanga namaskar in order to seek blessings. ‘Padha Pooja’ our traditional practice that is lost is regaining its importance again. It is the practice that bestows every student with strength and courage.
