Flood Relief Programme
Supported BY INFOSYS
VANDEMATARAM FOUNDATION

Nearly 1.5 million people are affected by the flash floods of Krishna & Tungabhadra Rivers that has devastated Kurnool & Mahaboobnagar districts. One of the most affected group is the school children who have stopped going to the school as they lost their books and belongings. Vandemataram foundation has taken the initiative in a focused way to support the school children of Kollapur, Pebberu & Alampur mandals of Mahaboobnagar district. The school children were provided a School Bag, notebooks, Geometry box, Pen, pencil, Plate & Tumbler for the mid-day meal.

About 7.5 lakh children are affected by floods across the State, specially in Kurnool, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Krishna and Guntur districts and an estimated Rs. 3.14 crore is required to get them access to medicare so that an outbreak of diarrhoea and other water-borne diseases can be checked.13 per cent of children under 5 years of age were already acutely malnourished. The current level of acute malnutrition in Andhra Pradesh is already just below the global emergency trigger threshold. With so many children denied access to clean water and sanitation, they are especially at a greater risk of water-borne diseases including diarrhoea, one of the biggest killers of children in India,”

Infosys Foundation was kind enough to support the affected children. We thank you for choosing us to help the children. Infosys contribution of Rs. 3,00,000/- has been utilized to benefit 1200 children in two govt schools.

We thank you on behalf of the childre for sponsoring 1200 school kits.

The School kits are not just a material support for the children but also a morale booster and an enhancer for the children and the family. The response has been encouraging and the glow in the children’s face was worth seeing. We are attaching photographs of the Children and the programmes held at two Govt schools.

Mantralayam Govt school:                    1,000 kits

Alampur Govt school:                            200 kits

We look forward to serving and reaching more children and nurturing more of them towards a brighter tomorrow.
